Making Your Wedding COVID-Friendly
There are so many nifty ideas going around for micro-weddings and elopements lately. It’s so important to keep the love alive, especially now! So maybe you have to shift a few things around, but that’s okay! Here are some helpful tips to get you started on what you need:
1.Keep it small
Depending on which phase of reopening your city may be in, you may have to keep it small anyway. But also, strongly consider your loved ones and their needs. It’s best to have a small gathering now, for a huge party later down the line when everyone can come!
2. Live Streaming
Thank goodness for FaceTime and Skype, am I right?? Live streaming your little event is a way for your friends and family to be part of the big day, without risking their health or the health of others. Plus, it’s definitely more cost-friendly in these precarious times.
3. Cleanliness and masks!
Have y’all seen those hand sanitizer stations? Honestly, this is such a good idea. Setting out individual hand sanitizer and masks for your guests as favors is a great way to say, “We love you, we care about you, and we want you to feel safe here.”
4. Social distancing/outdoors
People have been throwing the cutest little backyard weddings, and I’m here for it! When you do an outdoors shindig, it makes it a tiny bit safer than something cramped and indoors when you can’t social distance. Place the chairs far enough part, or seat guests according to household! So many great ideas to make sure everyone feels comfortable as they enjoy your micro-wedding!
5. Drive-through reception
This is one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen. Set up a sign in your front yard that says, “Just married” and let your loved ones drive by, honk for a kiss between the newlyweds, or even leave gifts! It’s a way to spread the love, without spreading the germs.
6. No sharing!
If you do have a mini reception, try individually packed boxes of nibbles or cake. Sharing utensils and touching all the same things is definitely not the way to go. Buffets are out, these days! And remember, if you’re using gloves, don’t touch everything with them. Discard them after use, and wipe down any surfaces with cleaning products.
Whether you choose to postpone, reschedule, or have the big day on a smaller scale, we hope you know that sometimes all it takes is a little creativity to keep clean, stay safe, and still celebrate!
