How to Celebrate Your Original Wedding Date
This year, we were ALL ready for some weddings. The fact that so many have had to be postponed or rescheduled has been so hard on couples. Sometimes, you choose a wedding date because it holds a special place in your hearts. Maybe it was the anniversary of your first date, or you just really wanted to get married on a particular holiday. Whatever the case, how about some ideas for those couples going through that hard decision right now?
1. Have a virtual party
Think of it like a reception, BEFORE the wedding! And via Skype. Seriously, gather your loved ones, pop that bubbly, and just bask in each other’s (virtual) company. Have a round of toasts, share sweet stories, and celebrate with your loved ones! Who says you can’t still party??
2. At-home date night
Any excuse to get all dolled up, right? Stay in, watch your favorite movie, cook your favorite meal. Anything that gives you a night to just be together. Things have been so hectic this year, sometimes we just need to be in the company of the one we love most.
3. Exchange sweet gifts
So many couples give each other thoughtful letters and gifts on the big day. Why wait? If your S.O. has been eyeing a certain something online, get it delivered to your place and surprise them! Write down what you love about them. Make them a cute scrapbook of all your favorite memories. Seriously, sharing the love is what it’s all about!
4. Elope/Micro-wedding
Look, if you’re someone who just can’t wait to marry the love of their life, then who’s stopping you? Absolutely go for it! Just keep it safe, and social distancing-friendly. A few of my couples have taken this route, and it has still turned out to be a beautiful occasion. And for family members you wish could be there, let them join via FaceTime or Zoom!
There are so many great ways to commemorate your original wedding date. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that plans can change! It’s not always a bad thing. Celebrations just look a little different now, but one thing is definitely for sure: Love is definitely not cancelled, y’all!
